Out on the lake

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon recently getting completely fried in the sun while out on the boat with Nolan and the kids.

The three amigos: Kel, Addison, and Maddox.

Silly little Zip was along for the ride too. Kel was trying to pose with him for a photo. Zip didn't want to be still!

And here's the front view of Zip not wanting to be still.

Nolan, our fearless captain.

And his first mate.

At the end of the day, the sun and the excitement take their toll.

Kel and Addison crashed out.

End of school year show

Finally catching up on photos. Until I get to the Colorado trip batch. For now, here are a few photos from the Extended Day class's end of year show at Montessori Children's House.

Kel was Mars in their planet skit. This is his Mars shirt. Designed and created all by himself.

Connor, Kel, and Tre.

Out back on a fine spring evening

Kel was playing out back one evening this week and he just looked so grown up (it seems to happen overnight!) that I asked him to stop for a few photos. He remains an obliging model for his dear demented mother and her camera fixation.

Look at that farmer tan! Typical Midwestern boy.

Eventually, it just got goofy. As most things in life do.

We were out with Casper Cat. He has a new jacket and leash so that he can spend more time outside. He loves to be out, but being both deaf and psychotic, he wasn't trustworthy enough to be outside without restraint. Here he is in his pretty red jacket which he actually doesn't mind at all. A fair trade for sunny evenings spent rolling in the grass.

One last day at the beach

Its about time that I finally dragged the photos from our last day on Guam from the camera to the computer. Its just so hard to admit that our most wonderful adventure has come to a close. Came to a close over a week ago in fact. Oh well. We'll always have the memories -- and the photos!

The one and only thing that I wanted to do on our last day on Guam was to hit the beach. We met a couple of friends there, Ali and Danae, and had a most wonderful day of lounging, snorkeling, chatting, burying Kellan alive, and playing in the water. Life was good on Guam.

Kel would do anything for these two lovely ladies, so when they suggested that he lay down and they cover his entire body with scratchy coral sand, obviously he said, "sure".

Men will never learn, will they? Can't wait to drag this one back out at his high school graduation party.

A beautiful little mermaid with his bucket, shovel, and enviable chest. He had no idea.

Freedom!

And straight down to the water for a good rinse.

Danae knew a secret about sea cucumbers. When you pick them up and squeeze them...

...they squirt out a jet of water!

Danae teaching Kellan the secrets of the sea cucumber.

"Look what I can do, Mom!". Ick.

Totally random shot of a hilarious sign that we'd sometimes pass on our travels. This was just an ordinary little road in the middle of a pretty run down part of town near the airport. I have no idea. But it was good for a giggle.

Cocos Island

When spending a couple of weeks in paradise, why not take a boat over to a tiny uninhabited tropical island in order to spend a day in a different paradise? You can't get too much paradise. Its a proven fact.

This is Cocos Island, taken from the boat. Once we arrived, I locked the camera away while we swam and snorkeled, so there are no photos from our actual time on the island. Apologies. But that's life in paradise. You have to make tough decisions.

Here we are departing Guam. Bye bye island. We're going to another island!

There's Guam. Beautiful, no?

At this point Amanda was very excited to be "off island". Its a big deal when you live in the middle of nowhere, apparently. Though if I lived in Guam, I'd have no desire to be anyplace else. That whole paradise thing again.

Some shots of me and Kel on the boat. Guam in the distance.

Time warp. We've finished a lovely day on the island, swimming and snorkeling to our heart's content. Here's Kel back on the boat, enjoying a drink as we prepare to depart Cocos Island and head back over to Guam.
