Pueblo

Our first stop in Pueblo was the river walk. Which, rather ironically, was mostly closed to foot traffic due to construction. So we decided to take the boat tour of the river walk and found out that we hadn't missed much. It was a pretty little stop in the historic downtown district, but nothing to rival Austin (upon which it was apparently based -- in as much as there was water there, perhaps).

Kel and Nic posing by a scenic water feature along the river walk.

Kel with the river behind him.

We also spent an afternoon at the Pueblo zoo.

These penguins were so funny. They could see you through the glass and would chase back and forth after you, playing penguin games.

How far can Kel jump? For the record, not very.

Outside of the zoo, there was a special event that day where the kids could look at police cars, fire trucks, swat vehicles, etc. Here's Kel in a Pueblo fire engine.

He was also quite taken with the helicopter. This was an army display maybe? Or National Guard?

Outside of the bull riding offices in downtown Pueblo. Yes, there are such offices. For bull riders. Hey, its a real job. Apparently.

Some flowers with an old Pueblo street behind.

Out on the lake

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon recently getting completely fried in the sun while out on the boat with Nolan and the kids.

The three amigos: Kel, Addison, and Maddox.

Silly little Zip was along for the ride too. Kel was trying to pose with him for a photo. Zip didn't want to be still!

And here's the front view of Zip not wanting to be still.

Nolan, our fearless captain.

And his first mate.

At the end of the day, the sun and the excitement take their toll.

Kel and Addison crashed out.

End of school year show

Finally catching up on photos. Until I get to the Colorado trip batch. For now, here are a few photos from the Extended Day class's end of year show at Montessori Children's House.

Kel was Mars in their planet skit. This is his Mars shirt. Designed and created all by himself.

Connor, Kel, and Tre.

Out back on a fine spring evening

Kel was playing out back one evening this week and he just looked so grown up (it seems to happen overnight!) that I asked him to stop for a few photos. He remains an obliging model for his dear demented mother and her camera fixation.

Look at that farmer tan! Typical Midwestern boy.

Eventually, it just got goofy. As most things in life do.

We were out with Casper Cat. He has a new jacket and leash so that he can spend more time outside. He loves to be out, but being both deaf and psychotic, he wasn't trustworthy enough to be outside without restraint. Here he is in his pretty red jacket which he actually doesn't mind at all. A fair trade for sunny evenings spent rolling in the grass.
