Happy 4th of July!

We cycled over to the Jerome 4th of July parade this morning, an annual tradition that started on our very first 4th here when we just happened to be out for a park play that morning and were surprised by a fun little parade. You can see the bike behind Kellan. That's his tag along on the back of my bike. Best investment ever. He easily does 10 or more miles, no complaints.

Waiting for the parade to begin. Candy bag at the ready.

Few shots of the parade. Cheesier than a cheesy thing that's really cheesy, but as a certain friend (who happens to be quite partial to central IL!) pointed out, its pretty neat to see a small local community coming together, year after year, carrying on a fun tradition like this little 4th of July parade.

Kellan enjoying his Tootsie Rolls after the parade. Didn't want to pose for photos.

Final shot of a happy candy filled boy on a beautiful 4th of July morning.

Hmmmm, I wonder who that friend could be? There is something to be said about traditions, no matter how lame. Did Kellan at least share some candy with you to take the cheese taste out of your mouth?
