No, though Springfield is a really small town, so in big city terms, everybody's in our immmediate neighbourhood! We met through the lactation group at St John's hospital. When I first moved to town, I was desperate to start making friends, especially those with babies of a similar age to Kellan. We'd just moved from Britain, didn't know anybody, didn't know the area, and wanted to start settling in. I do this best by making social connections. So I went to the La Leche League meeting and there was told about the St Johns group. That's where I met these wonderful moms and babies. Once our little guys had outgrown that "baby" group, we started a playgroup of our own.
Good luck, Betty! I understand the need to leave CA. Its one of the big reasons that I've never been able to return. Just can't afford it! Hope that you settle quickly in Portland. I actually know loads of people who've moved from CA to OR or WA. Just makes sense. We officially own our house on your last day of work. Its really cute (I'll post a photo soon) and in a great neighbourhood. It cost us (you won't believe this) $88,000! Not exactly CA is it?!
I am a palynologist, a mother, and a wife -- not necessarily in that order. Recently moved from the UK and currently stranded in the Midwest. Good job in a less than perfect location.

Leaving CA? Where are you off to?
